Energy is one
of the major drivers of a growing economy like India.
At the same time, its many facets - including implications
of energy usages - present a complex collage. Thus, to establish
an understanding of the sector, wide dissemination of appropriate
knowledge and analyses about energy and energy applications
becomes crucial. While a lot of developmental activities are
being carried out in India in the energy sector, there is
a lack of assimilation of such diffused activities –
in terms of a synthesis of best practices as well as in terms
of a consolidation of databases and knowledge. This underscores
the need for sharing of information, and resources on a continued
basis in a structured manner to enable easy access to information
and applications.
Against this backdrop, it was TERI’s
endeavour - on behalf of the National
Knowledge Commission - to establish India Energy Portal
(IEP) for effective consolidation and assimilation of knowledge.
IEP, though India-centric would be
global in content as may be relevant to India’s needs.
IEP, built upon public-private partnership, would provide
access to information and knowledge on various aspects of
energy in a comprehensive manner to a variety of stakeholders.
